Position Summary: The Senior Automation Engineer will lead the automation effort to design, develop, document and execute automation for various products.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Propose new and applicable technologies
  • Manage and maintain automation tools, framework, scripts, CI integration and infrastructure
  • Design, create and maintain test suites for product/system evaluations and customer qualifications
  • Support SQA teams in training and knowledge transfer of automation execution
  • Participate in automation project planning, tracking, and reporting
  • Communicate assigned task status, issues, and requirements in a timely manner
  • Perform installation and upgrade of unit, functional, system, integration, performance and regression testing as needed to support automation efforts
  • Participate in source code control, bug tracking, and software release activities as required for automation
  • Help with SQA team’s activities from product test perspective as needed
  • Contribute to prioritizing automatable baselines
  • Provide technical assistance & guidance to SQA
  • Work with management in research, assessment and recommendation for automation tools that would improve effectiveness and efficiency in engineering teams.
  • Work with the engineering teams to help with automation code coverage and reporting.
  • Mentor & lead a group of SQA engineers as needed

Essential/Desired Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in software development, automation and/or SQA
  • Previous experience using objected oriented development principles  
  • Experience in automation frameworks such as data driven and hybrid frameworks for web applications based on requirements
  • Experience in automating regression, acceptance tests to run in multiple environments using an object oriented language
  • Hands on experience working with source control tools, preferably Git
  • Experience working with Linux/Unix based web and application servers
  • Previous experience working with Postgres, MySQL or Oracle DB’s
  • Previous experience with unit test frameworks
  • Previous experience with API’s, Web Services and underlying HTTP, TCP/IP protocols
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to document automation, test harnesses, coding principles & standards
  • Experience working in agile model of SDLC and supporting automation for multiple scrum teams.
  • Good team player with effective time management skills – prioritization of tasks and own time
  • Able to interpret requirements, document automation test plans, implement test designs and provide test status
  • Working knowledge of 3 or more of the following technology areas:
    • Automation tools: TestNG, Selenium, Jenkins
    • Web application development tools
    • Scripting languages:  XML, HTML, SQL, Shell scripting
    • Operating Systems:  Linux, Unix
  • Experience with code coverage and profiling tools
  • Knowledge of cloud automation
  • Experience developing mobile automation for android and iOS
